It was year 1999 and I was in Grade 6 when I first heard about this "end of the world" thing. I don't know where it all started, but it made a lot of people to worry 'cause they believed there would be a "doomsday" and all human beings on this planet will die. They were also frightened with the fact that year 2000 was about to enter. And so, some people from provinces started to build their own Noah's arc while others went to the caves as they believed they'll be safe there. And panic buying occured too in some places.

And I still remember this particular moment when me and my friends walking together on our way home from school, discussing how we wanted to die (just in case) if we have a choice. ^^; My answer? I chose the safe one, of course: sleep and never wake up - at least I wouldn't feel any pain. =P Haha! In my young mind, I really thought the end of 1999 would also be the "end" for the human race. :noes:

Christmas came, we celebrated the New Year and Jan. 1, 2000 finally came... but the world was still intact. :la: Funny! Some people were frustrated (perhaps disappointed) because the end of the world didn't happen like what they've expected or predicted. Those people couldn't believe that everything was ok and their surroundings remained normal. :giggle:

I really thought that would be the last time I would hear about it, but the scare happened again on year 2005, then 2010 and now 2012. Haayy.. I'm starting to think that they're just adjusting the date until it happened. Like the 12-12-12 (it's another date for a doomsday? LOL! For me it's the most amazing date 'cause this combination will never happen again for the rest of my life!) and there's Dec. 21 they say. I really don't know where they based their predictions: from the bible? Mayan calendar? Whatever! Anyway, I find some humor about it especially when foreigners came to our country last March to "inform" us that the end was near and it'll happen on March 21. But after that date, they also disappeared...
OK, we have the "first WORLD countries", "second WORLD countries" and "third WORLD countries", right? Eh, I live in a third WORLD country. Therefore, I believe my world isn't going to end yet! :giggle: Natural phenomenons, world wars or any horrible human acts are not enough reasons for the world to end. Hehe! Maybe they were pertaining to their own world and their worries are just spilling now.

Yeah it all seems pretty dumb to me...
I mean, if the world is gonna end at least let it happen after Christmas, right? :XD:

Good going on this! :) Btw, just so you know for sure, the Bible says nothing about the exact date of the world's end. More than likely, it was that whole Mayan Calendar thing where people got it from.

What does the bible have to do with this?

This person said in the description, "I really don't know where they based their predictions: from the bible? Mayan calendar? Whatever!" I was just letting them know that they could take the Bible off the list of places where the predictions could have come from.
